Dear Brigette,

Where are you Brigette?  Guess where I was last week?  I was in the sun at Zion National Park in Utah.  Beautiful Zion!  The weather was amazing, 80 to 90 degrees daily, full sun, I got a bit of sun burn and totally tanned.  We did some backpacking in the high desert, explored the Narrows and soak in the river.  This is what I wore on my non-hiking moments.  A yellow light and soft APC tee.  Then I put on my vibrant blue Olasul swim short, though I wonder if I should’ve got the J. Crew boat shorts or the blue Norse shorts.  Should I just get it all?  What do you think?

Dear Brigette,

How have you been?  I’m about go to Zion National Park in Utah this memorial day weekend.  I can’t wait to explore the canyons and the narrows.  I thought of maybe getting a small backpack for the day hike part of the trip.  What do you think of the Epperson Mountaineering bag?  Its so colourful!  A bear will spot miles away.  $180 is a bit of a high price though.  What do you think of the orange Fjallraven rucksack?  Its a bit pricier $190.  Fjallraven is a brand from Sweden.  Apparently they were the bag brand that every kid in Sweden used to carry their books to school.  Though I think I like the Epperson bag more.

Dear Brigette,
A new shop opened up in Portland just up the street from my home.  The shop is called Worn Path, sort of an outdoor boutique store that sells girly things from ear rings to recreational items like a surf board.  I got this necklace to wear with my tees.  I just read Hunger Games and this necklace calls out to me.  I love the brass axe and the arrow.  Pretty awesome!

Dear Brigette,

How have you been?  We went to Cannon Beach last weekend, spent overnight at a cute townhouse about 3 blocks away from the beach.  We went surfing most of the time.  I’ll tell you more about it next post.  Right now I need more summer wear like a madras shirt perhaps.  How about this one from Gant Rugger?  What do you think?  A bit spendy on a shirt.  I think I would only get it if I know its light weight and gentle on my skin.  I’ve also been looking for a nice short.  I thought of these Outlier shorts, but not sure how the fit looks.  I thought of wearing accessories for a fancy day at the office.  Maybe a tie from Bonobos or fancier Alexander Olch.  I like them both!  A tie is probably more ideal ‘cause I can wear it loose.  I thought of these two ties from Opening Ceremony.  The Hentsch Man tie is only $65, and the Band of Outsider tie is… $115.  Of course its overpriced.  Do you think I should eve try to wear ties in such hot weather?

Hey, I love the blog and by the way... could you tell us the name of the photoshop brushes you use? They look so good

Dear reader,

I have my own personal set of brushes I’ve made and traded with peers.  Not sure what Brigette use though.

cheers,  Ed

Dear Brigette,

How were your days at Calarts reviewing portfolio?  I think you have such an interesting opportunity to help these new talented animation students.  I wish I had a teacher like you when we were at Calarts.  And of course everyone loves your outfit!  You’ve got the very cute adorable Zooey Deschanel look.

I’ve been shopping for tank tops.  I actually only own two tank tops.  TWO!  Can you believe that?  Last summer I wore mostly t shirts.  I remember I was dying of sweat in t shirt.  I really really need proper tank top purchases.  What do you think of these choices?  Now, the FOLK colour block tank top is my favourite.  But it comes with a whopping $122 price tag.  YIKES!  What should I do?  I love it so much.  I know I’ll wear it everyday if I own it.  My second choice is the Saturdays NYC stripped tank top.  Its a lot cheaper and affordable.  The fit is slimming too.  Third choice is the blue ASOS Paul Smith tank top.  Though it looks not as a good fit as Saturdays NYC.  What do you think?  Should I suck it up and pay $122 for a tank top?  Seems kind of crazy.  Even Shad thinks that’s insane.  Lastly, I think I’m gonna get the khaki coloured cyclist cap.  Perfect for the season.  I already own the black and pink one.

hi, i'll like to know how you make your drawings please. What program?

Dear Anon,

Both Ed and I use good old fashioned Photoshop.  We have lots of fun brushes that make them not look all digital-y.

Thanks for the question!

Dear Brigette,

I’ve been going to the farmers market every Saturday morning.  Get my chai tea, egg and cheese biscuit, bakery goods, italian kales, rainbow carrots, local free ranged eggs, and homemade pear cider.  Yum!!!  I’m hungry just writing about it.  When are you going to come up north and visit?

This is what I wore last weekend and possibly again this weekend.  When I was in LA I got the Apolis Activism x Patagonia rain jacket.  Its so thin and shiny blue.  I love it.  I also love my organic pink peruvian cotton long sleeve from Olasul.  I know, pink, what?  It was either that or another cyan shirt.  Portland is all filled with cherry blossom, and this pink shirt is perfect for the season.  It still rains here and there.  So I keep wearing my Outlier The Climber trouser.  Expensive but it is the best buy I’ve ever made.  I recently got a pair of blue Generic Surplus suede oxford.  I just had it weather treated and gotten extra heel protection.  Ready to take them on a bike ride!

Lastly, I haven’t make this purchase yet… sunglasses.  I’ve been staring at this pair of Han Kjøbenhavn sunglasses.  I love the golden rim and teal blue shade.  Should I get it?  Kind of pricy.  Either that or the Steven Alan People retro green sunglasses.  Both about the same price after shipping.

Dear Brigette,

Today on the New York Times, there is a great article about the evolution of nail polish and decor becoming an essential fashion accessory.  I’m no expert on nail polish since I don’t wear them.  I also draw and paint and bike everyday and my nails are definitely not a beautiful sight.  I thought this article could give you some inspiration since you recently got your nail polish done.
